The health crisis seems to have brought them closer to their employer, its values and its social role. Before the confinements, 69 % said they were attached to their company; today 78 % say they are. Their commitment is also reflected over time, with an increasing proportion wishing to continue working for their current company for more than two years.

What role does the office play for them?

Containment has accentuated a trend that has been underway for years, namely the social role of the company. Even before the confinement, employees - particularly younger ones - said they came to the office to socialise (46 %). This figure rose by three points after the confinement. A very strong sign of a form of confusion between the boundaries of the world of work and the private sphere, a majority of young employees (55 % among 20-25 year olds, 53 % among 30-35 year olds) consider their colleagues to be friends, a result almost twice as high as that observed among the over 50s (29 %).

For the younger generation, does this social role extend beyond the office?

Getting out of the workplace during the day has become a new norm for young employees. It's worth noting in this respect that these recently adopted behaviours are spreading like wildfire, revealing a youthful diffusionist attitude that is likely to influence the practices of other generations. Younger employees also prefer outdoor spaces, particularly for work-related activities, a sign that the boundaries of the workspace are becoming more blurred. The choice of workplace is even more closely linked to the choice of neighbourhood: a service-based approach, focusing on the company and its immediate environment, is being organised under the leadership of this new generation. This also applies to the company's social role and its commitment to the battles that this generation wants to wage: climate change, inclusion, inequality, etc.

Frédéric DABI, Chief Executive Officer Ifop

[9
post-1632","article-etude","type-article-etude","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","categorie-article-etude-interview
["GET
