How can we make the Paris Region an attractive place to live on a continental scale? By striking a balance between work, leisure and quality of life, according to the region's vice-president.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Has Covid-19 had an impact on the attractiveness of the Ile-de-France region?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite Covid, the attractiveness of the Paris Region has more than held its own: in 2021, it welcomed 404 direct international investments, an increase of 20% compared with 2020. I'd like to pay tribute to this performance, especially as it is reflected in real terms in terms of jobs: these investments will eventually create almost 10,200 jobs. As for foreign companies, what they are telling us today is that the Paris Region is the only European region that can play the role of global hub that London has played in the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What are you promoting to attract new business?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We have made the \u00cele-de-France a multilingual region, with 9 international lyc\u00e9es due to be operational by 2023, double the number in 2015. We have made the region a global hub for innovation, by developing the region's R&D strengths and investing heavily. We have created a leadership position in the industries of the future, particularly in quantum technology with the Pack Quantique \u00cele-de-France, which has committed \u20ac2.5 billion over three years to create synergies between major industrial groups and start-ups. We also want to capitalise on a buoyant environment: we're still reeling from the consequences of Brexit, and the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games are fast approaching. The Grand Paris Express project is taking shape, and many urban renewal projects are linked to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Madrid attracts people because of its pace of life, London has made a big impact on the attractiveness of the City, Berlin attracts start-ups... In your opinion, is there anything that makes the capital region so special?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I believe that what makes us special is precisely that we are a region where you can live and work well. And it's this uniqueness that guides our regional attractiveness and economic development policy. With a particular focus on innovation. Here again, Covid has demonstrated its crucial role, if only because innovation enables us to imagine solutions to today's major challenges, be they health or environmental. Finally, I believe that what makes us unique is the attention we pay to our impact. More than a \"Paris way of work\", I believe it's a \"Paris Region way of life\" that combines quality of life, innovation and sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What do you see as the main areas of development for commercial property in the Paris Region, and more specifically in Paris?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Today, more and more people are working in flex-office environments. Traditional office property is declining, but this offers many investment opportunities that are in line with society's aspirations, particularly in terms of the environment. A great deal of space has become available, which could be renewed by hybridising formats: residential, office, retail, etc., and by paying more attention to the environment and quality of life. In addition, since Brexit, transaction volumes in the UK office property market have been declining. This is helping to boost the attractiveness of the Paris Region, which is perceived as diverse, balanced and resilient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ile-de-France residents (83%) prefer mixed neighbourhoods to business districts. Is there anything special about neighbourhood life in Paris?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n What residents and talented people are looking for today is above all a good balance between work, leisure and quality of life. Take, for example, the Arboretum project in Nanterre: just 15 minutes from Paris, this low-carbon project includes 125,000 m2 of offices and services, green spaces and a transport hub. I'm also thinking of ECOTONE, in Arcueil.
